They've already filed their 2008 returns? A taxpayer who files a tax return and then receives a tax form, such as a Form 1099 or a Schedule K-1, can amend the tax return by filing form 1040X. A state equivalent of form 1040X might also be neeeded. -- ArtKamlet at a o l dot c o m Columbus OH K2PZH -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |

| I'm executor of my father's estate. He died in 2007 and I filed the decedent's last return last year. But now I need to file an estate tax return on Form 1041 and K-1 forms for myself and two brothers reporting about $3,000 of income I distributed in 2008 to each of us. I have until April 15th to file the 1041 and K-1-- so how do they report that 2008 income? They've already filed their 2008 returns? -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |
