TurboTax has an option to import tax data directly from most financial
institutions. Are you sure TaxCut doesn't have something similar?

http://scripts.mit.edu/~gpxu/www/tax/ looks promising. I tried it
out by pasting the example lines into the blank input box, and it
seemed to work.

I suggest you download your
Broker's Excel file and rearrange (if niecessary) the columns in the
(a) through (f) format of Schedule D1, total the long and short term
items, and carry the totals to TaxCut's line 2 and 9 of ScheduleD.
Call it a 1040 D-1, put on your name and SS# and attach a print-out
them (long term and short term) to your Tax Cut return. Sorry, can't
e-file this. There are programs available to do this for you, but
it's so simple.

Default Importing cap gains data into tax programs.

I am using TaxCut and it only accepts .txf files. And the only way
you can get .txf files is to use a financial program such as Quicken
or MS Money. I can download cap gains data from my broker (Schwab),
but it's in Excel or related formats. Is there a way to import Excel
files into TaxCut? Or convert Excel files into .txf format?
