| Can someone provide a link to a relatively simple, straightforward discussion of the capital gains tax treatment of bonds. Everything that I have found so far is full of accounting/taxation jargon which is assumed on the reader's part. I'd like to understand things such as if there is a difference in tax treatment depending on whether or not you hold the bond to maturity. Also, are CD's purchased in the secondary market treated the same as taxable bonds, as far as capital gains is concerned? Thanks. -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |
