There is another current thread "CA state tax - Q on community income"
which addresses your situation also. However your marital community did
not form until July, so no community income prior to that, AFAIK.

Default CA resident with part year resident spouse

Hi,

I am a California resident for the entire year, and I got married in
July. My wife immediately moved to California from Texas after
marriage. We're filing Married-filing-jointly for Federal income
taxes.

How do I file California taxes? How do we report income earned in
Texas before we were married? Any help, and pointers to documents
would be appreiciated.

Thanks.
