Default OH Retirement Income Credit - Income from decedent IRA to heir

This was a surprise to me. I did not think you could claim the credit
unless the income was yours or your spouses and you had retired from the job
where the income was earned.

Yes, we do allow the retirement income credit to be taken in this situation,
but not the survivorship deduction.

MSG_BODY: Client is 51 years old but has OH taxable income from IRA
distributions (code 4) from IRAs left to him by his deceased father. He is
not retired but this is clearly retirement income. Can he claim the
retirement income credit based on this income? Tax software claims it by
default and you have to manually determine that it is not qualified.

Uncompensated advice guaranteed correct or double your money back
