| I have the following expenses related to some investments I sold: -account maintenance fee for a brokerage account (the account is new closed, but I held the sold mutual funds there awhile): $60 per year for several years -DHL service for paperwork for founders stock of a startup: $37 My question is, can I add these amounts to the cost basis for the liquidated securities ? Yes, I realize that I can probably deduct them on Schedule A, but it's subject to the 2% AGI exclusion, so that doesn't really help. Thanks, John -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |
