Please advise. Thanks! I am not a TT user so cannot help you with the software. But if you received a 109-B for the short sale, make a note on Schedule D "the following transactions are all short sales which remained open at year end" and then list the description and sales amounts. A less recommended method is not to do this, but to attach a note which the data entry clerk will hide away for posterity, explaining that Forms 1099-B Sales amount include short sales which remained open at year end of $XXXX. Actually TT might allow an attached note, which will almost certainly be ignored. Putting the sales directly on the Schedule D makes the CP-2000 AUR program happy, and that's good for you. -- ArtKamlet at a o l dot c o m Columbus OH K2PZH -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |
