My impression of the instructions is that a single line in Part A
that exceeds $500 claimed donated value but does not include data
in parts (d) (e) (f) is not compliant.

This is one of the things they dinged Geithner on.

Default Form 8283 issue

I'm getting a review alert on Form 8283 for a couple of non-
cash donations with the tax software I'm using. The total of
all the non-cash donations are well below $5000.

There are a couple of individual donation events that are over
$500 each and the software is alerting to a requirement to
furnish the date acquired/how acquired/cost or adjusted basis.
There is absolutely no way in the world to determine this
information.

These events contain non-cash donations of property that have
been acquired over the years (clothes, linen, misc. household
items, etc.). The reason the value is so high is due to the
quantity of items, all valued using Donation Assistant and/or
It's Deductible to substantiate the values. They were all
donated to the same place on the same day.

The instructions for Form 8283 seem geared to a single item not
multiple items whose aggregrate value exceeds $500.

How should I treat or deal with these alerts? Ignore them?
