When you're in Easystep mode, click on "Search Topics" to find the
section related to a keyword.

When in Forms mode, you can use "Open Form" to find a form whose name
contains a keyword, but there doesn't seem to be a way to search the
forms themselves. But you can search the IRS publications, and they
should refer you to the appropriate form.

When I click on "Open Form", there's a search box at the top where I can
type in a form number or a keyword.

I thought so, too. But I just noticed that the "Open Form" window has a
checkbox "Open in separate window".

Are you the same guy who posted a similar complaint last week in
comp.sys.mac.apps? Didn't you see my reply there?

Default Macintosh tzx program for 2009

I have used TurboTax nee MacInTax for many years. One year, When TaxCut
became available for Macs, I tried it. Maybe because it was the firs
year for Macs, it turned out to be a traumatic experience. Is it better
now?

Since then, I have been fighting TurboTax's implementation as much as
the IRS forms themselves. Jere are some of my gripes.

1. There is no way to search a form for a keyword to get me near where
I want to be.

2. If I want to open a form, I get an unsorted popup list that I cannot
search exceot by scanning visually. I should be able to search by a
keyword or number.

3. It seems impossible to keep multiple windows open.

4. Intuit has made it easy to jump from form to form. But when I do, my
place on the form is lost and I have to search for the proper cell.

There are many other glitches that maker me wrestle with the application
rather than the taxes.

I have complained bitterly to Intuit about such things. I never have
received acknowledgment that my complaints have been read.

Is there a viable Macintosh alternative to Turbotax? Is there another
program that will work on a Macintosh using Intel chips? Is there a
Unix or Linux based alternative? I might even consider (horrors)
installing Windows on my machine if a suitable applicagtion were
available.
