See my reply on the Roth vs traditional 401(k). Same question apply.
In the case of conversion, it's rare for it to make sense to convert
such a large sum. If you are now in the 15% bracket and envision your
income rising, you'd want to convert enough to just 'top off' that
bracket, but no more.

How do I know if I should convert my IRA to a Roth IRA ?
Age: 40
IRA Value: 220,000

Am I better off just retiring (at the appropriate age) and taking out the minimum ?
