He didn't ask, "where can I get the form", he asked "is this a mistake" after observing that forms were not being delivered this year in the accustomed time frame. Even in the previous thread, the question was "Should we be concerned? [...] Anybody know what the IRS timing on sending them out is?" What remains unclear is whether it is a mistake, whether we should be concerned, what the timing is, or is it just a new IRS policy that has not been communicated very clearly (for example, is e-filing my 1040-ES "return" the same thing as e-filing my form 1040, as one respondent stated?). Other than a few "don't worry" replies, the question still remains unanswered at this point, except for IRS language that many would interpret to mean this: they ain't mailing out 1040-ES forms and envelopes to e-filer's any more. (Just as with e-filing, the total cost doesn't go away, it is just shifted from one party to another). Your preferred response to the OP, helpful as it may be, doesn't resolve this issue or address the question posed by either of the OP's. -Mark Bole -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |

Self-prep software and paid professionals can provide 1040-ES pre-filled forms, although some charge for it. Now, if only you could download the pre-addressed envelopes too!

Actually - you ain't gonna get 'em. Per the NATP March 13 newsletter ...> > Is this a mistake or is there some new way to pay online that I'm > > supposed to know about? > No mistake, they're just a tad slower this year. Estimated Tax Payment Vouchers Here's another opportunity for you to "stay in front of your clients" throughout the year. The IRS has discontinued mailing paper Form 1040-ES, Estimated Tax for Individuals, vouchers and envelopes to your 1040-ES clients who file electronically. 1040-ES filers who file a paper return will receive only one mailing instead of quarterly mailings. Take the place of the IRS here and remind your clients to make their payments every quarter. While you're at it, market yourself and ask if there is anything you can do for them. More information is in the Form 1040-ES instructions available on the IRS website. -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |

AndyS made a valid point on this subject in a very recent> Is this a mistake or is there some new way to > pay online that I'm supposed to know about? post - no one stated what we probably considered to be the obvious. No need to wait for delivery of 1040ES and 1040V. Yet!- quote - > Is this a mistake or is there some new way to
No mistake, they're just a tad slower this year. After> pay online that I'm supposed to know about? all, they (IRS) have a lot on their plate this year, what with getting all those letters out about the upcoming "rebate". It's not even close to April 15th, so plenty of time in the next 31 days. Don't worry.
