I thought the instructions for the form addressed this? See Page 2.

Default HSA form 8889 with spouse contributing in 2008 for 2007

How should the following situation reported on forms 8889?

TP & spouse had an HDHP and a family HSA account for all of 2007. Both are
over 55 and they file a joint return. No employer is involved.

Contribution to the family HSA account was $6,450 for 2007.

In January 2008, spouse opens a self-only HSA account and contributes $800
in it as the over-55 additional contribution for 2007.

So the 2007 contributions for the couple total $7,250, all of which should
be deductible. Presumably, a second form 8889 is needed for spouse's HSA
account. But what should go in Part I?
