Thanks! That's the confusing thing. I am not sure it's the right thing
to do, but someone may ask a NJ tax office here locally.

NJ has changed the rules at least 2 times in the past 2 years on this
as the gov't insatiable appetite to bring in new revenue. Many are
taxable now.

You have to read the new rules from the 2007 tax legislation as to how
they apply to your organization.

Default NJ 501 c(3) - salestax on memberships?

In Bergen County, NJ. A genealogical society, 501 c(3) "charges"
membership fees/donations of their members to provide the services of the
society. Does NJ levy sales tax on such membership fees, or are they
considered "donations" qand hence not subject to salestax?
