Some times they do. Some times it's correctly reported, other times it's
not.

Did you get a settlement payment? If so, it'd be helpful to know the basic
details behind it to know it's potential tax ramifications.

Default What Type of Income is reported on 1099-Misc

I was hoping to find a list of types of income one must report on a
1099_Misc form, but couldn't find on at irs, gov. Does such a thing
exist?

My real question is this: if a judge awards you a settlement, does the
company paying the settlement report that money as 1099 income?
