| I used to write my own .c program to do taxes, the gain being that ongoing revisions didn't require me to repeat any computations ; the downside being that I had to follow the directions. (coding itself is easy.) I only coded up exactly what I needed from the 1040 instructions book. Then I went to a small now-forgotten company online two years, until the third year it turned out it couldn't handle ``income with respect to a decedent'' when that came up. So I wound up with a large company online anyway. I can't remember back far enough to when I might have actually done any genuine arithmetic myself unassisted. -- rhhardin[at]mindspring.com On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. -- << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |

| Does anybody have any good recommendations for a cheap tax prep website? I use taxslayer now but just wanted to see who uses anybody other than the bigger guys (Turbo Tax, HR Block, etc.). There seems to be a lot of smaller companies out there and it's tough to pick out trustworthy sites. Thanks!
