The executor of the estate should sign the 709.

All facts point to the estate's executor or administrator only who will
sing the return.

Default Signature on Gift Tax Return

A client of mine had given several substantial gifts of cash during the year
and a Gift Tax Return was going to be filed in January 2008. However, the
client died in December 2007.

Will I still be able to file the form 709 or will the Estate have to file
it? If I file it, who will sign it?

Thanks in advance
