The existence of "transcripts" of W2, 1099, 1098, etc, in> > > > How do I get IRS transcripts of reported income for 2004, > > > > 2005, and 2006 so I can file returns for them and 2007 > > > > between now and Feb 2008? > This raises a question in my mind. Do the transcripts > reflect the return only as originally filed, or does it also > reflect amendments that may have been filed and processed > after the original filing. no way signify the existence of a return. Only if IRS makes an SFR (substitute for a return) will such information be present. Said form 4506T is used to request transcripts of tax> > How do I get IRS transcripts of reported income for 2004, > > 2005, and 2006 so I can file returns for them and 2007 > > between now and Feb 2008? > > > I know I have no taxes due for any of those years and will > > get a whopping refund. > I believe you need to file a 4506-T for each year and for > each form. Go to IRS.gov. returns already filed as opposed to obtaining copies of W2's, 1099's, etc on record with IRS for use in filing. Call 1-800-829-1040 and work through the menus (you know, press one for English!) I think you can get these more quickly and without cost at> > How do I get IRS transcripts of reported income for 2004, > > 2005, and 2006 so I can file returns for them and 2007 > > between now and Feb 2008? > > > I know I have no taxes due for any of those years and will > > get a whopping refund. > I believe you need to file a 4506-T for each year and for > each form. Go to IRS.gov. your friendly IRS customer service counter. Ask for an IRPTR (Information Returns Master File Transcript Request) for each year for which you need income source documents. They should be able to provide locally printed information within an hour or so of your request. If they can't or won't print them at the IRS office, they can obtain hard copies printed at the Service Center in about a week. << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |

Actually, I believe getting transcripts (not actual copies> > How do I get IRS transcripts of reported income for 2004, > > 2005, and 2006 so I can file returns for them and 2007 > > between now and Feb 2008? > > I know I have no taxes due for any of those years and will > > get a whopping refund. > I believe you need to file a 4506-T for each year and for > each form. Go to IRS.gov. of returns) is simple - just call the IRS and ask. | I'm trying to get my act together after 3 years of oblivion. How do I get IRS transcripts of reported income for 2004, 2005, and 2006 so I can file returns for them and 2007 between now and Feb 2008? I know I have no taxes due for any of those years and will get a whopping refund. Thanks, Walt << ------------------------------------------------------- > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2007) - All rights reserved. > << ------------------------------------------------------- > |
