For the record: Just back from first ten days in Italy and
then ten days aboard ship in Aegean sea among the Greek
isles. Just as on last year's cruise, the ship had internet
cafe sponsored BY... uh huh, Noo Yawk times. And each day
in our suite was delivered an abbreviated international
edition of the International version of said paper. And I
did sneak a peak at least of baseball scores. Honestly,
that's all, though.

I know how Harlan feels about the NY Times. They do think
they are being fair and balanced, however. One article from
today's paper begins with these paragraphs:

WASHINGTON, Aug. 11: Despite promises by Congress to end the
secrecy of earmarks and other pet projects, the House of
Representatives has quietly funneled hundreds of millions of
dollars to specific hospitals and health care providers
under a bill passed this month to help low- income children.

Instead of naming the hospitals, the bill describes them in
cryptic terms, so that identifying a beneficiary is like
solving a riddle. Most of the provisions were added to the
bill at the request of Democratic lawmakers.

It seems to me that Harlan does not trust the privacy
policies of damnyankees, expecially not damnyankee
liberals. There was recently an article on AOL about
a man suing 1-800-Flowers for sending his estranged wife
a copy of the invoice for flowers he sent his lover. Of
course, the message to his lover was on the invoice. His
wife then upped the ante in the proposed property
settlement of their divorce.

I knew better. I paid cash for the flowers to Susan.
