If the tax shelter involved real or tangible personal
property located in NC, the gain is subject to NC tax. In
any case, you need to file a nonresident NC income tax
return to either report the income or claim a refund of the
tax withheld.

File a nonresident NC return.

You will have to file a North Carolina tax return.
