Your e-file software should automatically include an> separately. We live in California, a community property > state. "Allocation Record" like the one depicted on page B-203 (pdf page 317) of IRS Publication 1345A. The Allocation Record will enable IRS to reconcile the income reported on the various information returns, i.e., Forms W-2 and 1099. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1345a.pdf Frederick Lorca << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

| I believe it may be beneficial for my wife and I to file separately. We live in California, a community property state. According to the IRS publication we have to submit a schedule with our tax return that details the allocation of our incomes to the individual returns. I guess the need for this schedule prohibits us from filing electronically (with Turbotax)??? Or is there a workaround that still allows me to file electronically? Also wondering anyway how IRS is going to work their way through all these mismatches in W2's and 1099-MISC and individually reported incomes in the first place... Thanks, Etienne << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
