You might want to try using TaxAct. It has a menu item> Block Tax- Cut program. You click it, and it does an instant comparision for you in a printable report. It includes a check box that you can tick if you live in a community property state so that can be taken into account. I'm not a tax pro. Just a happy user of TaxAct. | I have prepared my 2006 US tax return using the on-line H&R Block Tax- Cut program. I thought that, having entered the information, it would tell me whether my wife and I should file jointly or seperately. Instead it just lets me file it jointly and then says that I must file another for my wife if I want to file it seperately. It seems like, since it has all the information, it should be able to tell me which is better. It seems to me that I may as well just do it both ways manually and maybe take it to an accountant. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, Peter << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
