As of Jan 24, CA changed that.
Quoted from the California Franchise Tax Board site:
http://www.ftb.ca.gov/aboutftb/press/2007/07_02.html

"California Follows New IRS Deadline of April 17 California taxpayers will get an extra two days to file and pay their
2006 state income taxes" announced the Franchise Tax Board (FTB)."

California also has an automatic six-month extension, no
form required, so the only impact would be if you needed to
make an estimated payment, which according to the FTB web
site is still April 17.

Most people confuse LA with La. At least you don't follow
the pack.

The NCACPA has a nice page on which states are due the 16th
and which are due the 17th.

Sorry, but check again. From multiple indications, I
believe California fully conforms to the new federal due
date of Apr 17 this year.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh

I thought the "LA" was for Lower Alabama.

That's what you get after too many years in The South.

No such thing as too many years in The South. Living in
The South is a blessing. On the seventh day, God laid
down to rest in North Carolina.

Default OT? Paul Revere rides again.......

We're informed that April 15, which falls on a Sunday this
year, will skip Monday because the 16th is Emancipation Day
in Washington DC and Patriots Day in various New England
states. So stuff, tax due, returns, estimated payments, are
due April 17.

California, in its usual contribution to confusion, chooses
to ignore all that. Due day here is April 16th............
Don't we have fun.
