You fail the distance test. Your new place of employment is
not 50 miles further from home than was your old place of
employment. See IRS Publication 521.

Default Moving Expenses for Telecommuters

We recently moved and I would love to deduct my moving
expenses, but I'm not sure I qualify. I telecommute (live
in Texas, work for an office in California) and my wife
works from home (salesperson). We don't really have a
working location out here in Texas, aside from our home.
Her "base" is about 5 hours south of where we live, mine of
course is about 22 hours west.

Any thoughts on if we might qualify for this deduction?

Thanks.
