Just use it as is - no problem. If you e-file the preparer
is instructed to enter the address on the W2 even if it is
not currently correct. But the refund comes to the address
on the main 1040 form (or is directly deposited.)

I see wrong addresses on W2s all the time. Taxpayers move
and forget to update their address with HR. You are allowed
to correct any mistakes yourself in boxes that have letters,
but not in the boxes that are numbered. If you paper file,
just ignore it. If you electronically file, enter the W2
info to match the form. It will not affect your return at
all.

The address on the W-2 is not used by the IRS. It is of no
consequence as long as you actually received your W-2.

If the only error is the mailing address, forget about it.
It's not a problem. The IRS looks at the name and SSN to
ensure they have the right person's W-2.

It's not a problem for filing purposes as far as I see it,
unless they have you living in another state.

Don't worry about this years W-2, but get it fixed for the
future.

It's not a problem as long as your name and SSN are correct.
You should make sure they correct their records going
forward, but there's no need to worry about the 2006 W-2.

Default Wrong address on W2

On my W2 for 2006, it seems my employer somehow changed my
address. I've been living at the same residence for over
twenty years, so it was definitely an error on their part.
How should I handle this and will this be a problem for me?
My employer, The City of NY, has not been very helpful. They
say it would take a long time to get a corrected W2.

Thanks,
Joe
