You are allowed to correct any mistakes yourself in boxes that have letters, but not in the boxes that are numbered. If you paper file, just ignore it. If you electronically file, enter the W2 info to match the form. It will not affect your return at all. | On my W2 for 2006, it seems my employer somehow changed my address. I've been living at the same residence for over twenty years, so it was definitely an error on their part. How should I handle this and will this be a problem for me? My employer, The City of NY, has not been very helpful. They say it would take a long time to get a corrected W2. Thanks, Joe << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
