Default Re: SSN Tax Refund?

The only way you could get a refund of SS taxes is if you
were a student and the job was part of your course of study.

Otherwise, the taxes were properly withheld under U.S. law.

What you need to do now is see if there is a Social Security
Totalization Agreement between your home country and the
U.S. If there is, then you may be able to get credit in
your home country for the SS taxes paid in the U.S.

For more info, see IRS Pub. 519.

Default SSN Tax Refund?

Assume that I (non USC/Greencard holder) have worked in US
for 5 years and thus paid 5 year SSN tax (plus medicare tax
etc) and then permantly left US (i.e. no longer living in US
as resident). Can I claim some SSN tax back? ( .. because I
will not be entitled to US retire benefits).
