It's reserved for what's called "involuntary termination", like a lay-off, plant closing, or if you are otherwise let go due to other than cause (ie: cause you stole, did drugs, etc). But, if you were to get "laid off" Ohio would pay benefits even if you were to look for work in another state. -- Paul Thomas, CPA paulthomascpapc[at]bellsouth.net << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

But I seriously doubt it. | I plan on moving to North Carolina from Ohio. My plan is to find work there and find an apartment but I do not have a base of operations there while I find a job e.g. any friends or relatives to stay with, etc. My funds are very limited. Traveling to and from NC just for job interviews while being able to hold my job here is out of the question due to travel expenses and and my work schedule. A co-worker here in Ohio told me that if I quit my job and moved to NC that Ohio would pay unemployment benifits and this would be a just cause since I was trying to better myself. I have never heard of this. I have held my current job for four years and have never received unemployment and I know little about it except I thought you would have to have a reason such as your job being too hazardous or you being discriminated against, etc. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Thanks in advance. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting posts > << to this newsgroup as well as our anti-spamming policy > << are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
