Yes. The $15,000 limit is for salary deferral, and the SEP
contribution is not that. You would not be able to make a
SIMPLE contribution, but the SEP is fine. See IRS
Publication 560.

Default 401(k) and SEP IRA in same year

I maxed out my 401k contributions this year and then left my
job to become an independent contractor. Can I also
contribute to my SEP IRA this year or did my $15k in the
401(k) eliminate my ability to contribute to the SEP?

Thanks!
