If you just bought the stock, you do not report it until you
sell the stocks.

You cannot send in the modified return. You have to file an
amended return using Form 1040X. To do that, you will need
the figures from your original return. You can get a copy
from the IRS. A transcript of your 2004 return, which is
free, is probably sufficient, rather than an actual copy,
which would cost $39. See the following link.

Go to www.irs.gov and search on "copy of return." There's a
form you can send (with a check) to get a copy from IRS.

Default ammended return

I left out some stock purchases. I used Taxcut and this is
for 2004. I just added my stocks in and now see I should
have saved it to a new file and made the changes. The
ammended return looks like it wants what I originally had
and the new figures. I can't find my old return printout.

What are my options. Can I just send this return in now
that it is correct?
