We're about 85 days past the due date and if the current rate is 6% (I'd have to check but haven't), then the numbers fit. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing was not intended or written to be used, > << nor can it used, for the purpose of avoiding penalties > << that may be imposed upon the taxpayer. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

Before I got around to mailing the 2nd return (I had to wait> Unfortunately a few returns do get lost with-in the > processing system! > I have on occasion found returns (with check attached) stuck > to the back of returns which were being examined for > underreported income, this phase of the process cycle occurs > about a year and a half after (they were filed). > Good luck on your second attempt. for wife to get back in town so she could sign it), my refund showed up deposited electronically in my bank account. I guess they found it. Now here's the weird part. My refund was supposed to be $1040. They sent me $1054.66. What was the extra 14.66, interest? It must be, because it wasn't rounded to a even dollar amount like if they had recalculated my return. Not that I'm complaining... Unfortunately a few returns do get lost with-in the processing system! I have on occasion found returns (with check attached) stuck to the back of returns which were being examined for underreported income, this phase of the process cycle occurs about a year and a half after (they were filed). Good luck on your second attempt. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

(or something like that) time." For all you know the Post Office lost the return. Even if the IRS did lose it, the person who receives this copy was most certainly not the one who received the first one. -- Vic Roberts Replace xxx with vdr in e-mail address.

| I called them last week to see where my refund was and they said they never received my tax return; I need to file another copy, and make sure it has a fresh signature and not a photocopied signature. Since I am expecting a refund, I don't have to worry about a penalty for late filing, but do I need to send them another original W2? I sent them the original in April. Or can I send them a photocopy of my copy of the W2 and write on the margin that the original was mailed in April and please don't lose it this time? (or something like that) Thanks, Bob << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
