The first thing that you should do is to get a good tax
professional in your area and give them a Power of Attorney
to talk to the IRS and the IRS can talk to the professional.
T
hen the tax pro can find out what has been filed and what
has not been filed. The tax pro will probably save you more
money than they cost.

They will know where to go from there.

You can walk-in to a local office or call (800) 829-8815 to
get the information reported to the IRS on you. Or you can
complete Form 4506 to order the information. It will cost
nothing.

Default Non-filer Has A Couple Questions...

I have chosen to file with the feds before they come
knocking on the door. The thing is, I don't even recall
which years I've filed and which I didn't. I hesitate to
call them up and throw myself at their mercy, but I'm
leaning toward that. I would guess in total I owe under
2000.00 in back taxes.

Any suggestions on the first step in finding out what years
I need to file for? Is there a statute of limitations? I
just filed this years 1040 btw. Thanks.
