You should have received a letter or statement from the IRS> According to my calculations, I was supposed to get back > 1751.xx dollars, but in my return I only received $1155. If you received the refund recently, the statement may not have arrived yet. Have you looked at your tax return (Form 1040) to see if there is an obvious reason for the difference? For example, did you claim a credit in the amount of the difference, which the IRS might have disallowed? If you discover the cause of the discrepancy, and are still entitled to additional refund, prepare an amended return to correct the error. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

If not, call 1-800-829-1040. BTW, a tax RETURN is the form you fill out to report your income, deductions, and tax liability. A REFUND is what you get if your withholding (including EIC) is greater than your tax liability. Many RETURNs do not result in a REFUND.

| I claimed a tax return on my income (12k) for 2005. According to my calculations, I was supposed to get back 1751.xx dollars, but in my return I only received $1155.
