Others good but I'll note if it was a paper return instead
of filed electronically, it's only been but a month so
wouldn't worry yet, particularly if didn't file until due
date...

If they're internet-active, they can visit http://www.irs.gov
and look for the query "Where's My Refund?" This will lead
them to a secure page where they can enter the particulars
(from their copy of the return filed), and receive an
advisory on the status.

If not on the internet, the alternative is to phone
1-800/829-1040, and listen for the menu prompt regarding
Refunds. While I haven't personally pursued this route, the
t/p should be prepared to provide information from their copy
of the return -- probably including SSN, AGI, Tax due, and
Tax withheld/paid, refund due, etc.

Default Lost refund?

One of my relatives was supposed to get a refund back from the IRS (I
think) and hasn't recieved it yet. All their other refunds came in
around the same time several weeks ago. Any suggestions on what the
relative should do? They have no idea if they should wait or call and
also have no idea who exactly they should call.
