So if you live in one of the contiguous states and commute to work, you will be a taxpayer only in the state where you live. Based on a very cursory review, it appears to me that from an income tax perspective you might be a little better off in MD than in DC or VA. However, there are other matters to take into consideration, such as living expenses, sales and use taxes, commuting expenses, etc. If Dick doesn't see an advantage to being in MD, I'm inclined to doubt that there is one. Does someone know how my state taxes will work if I live in DC, or if there is a tax advantage depending on whether I live in DC, Maryland, or Virginia?
