This is correct. Just don't claim any one child on both
returns.

Default Child Exemption with Joint custody after divorce

I have Joint 50-50 custody ( legal and physical) with my ex
for our 2 kids. As per the Marriage Settlement we are to
claim one child each for tax return.

Now my question is:
Does this mean - In my tax return, do I just put the one
child as dependent , and have absolutely no trace ( no
mention whatsoever) of my other child ( who my ex will be
claiming as dependent )??

Thanks in advance...
