Of course you do not have to file an amended return if the
tax doesn't change. I understand that the IRS (and many
states) consider any over or under-payment of less than $100
to be de minimis.

Why amend the return if it does not change the bottom line?

I wouldn't bother. There is a "de minimis" concept in tax
collection -- and preparation -- which suggests that the
cost of amendment can be greater than its value (or
perfection isn't worth the price!).

Default Amended Return? (New 1099-INT)

After I filed my 2005 federal return, I realized that I had
forgotten to include one of my 1099-INT interest amounts in
the return. This obviously changes my AGI, but because the
amount is small (around $10), my tax refund amount is
unchanged. Do I still need to file an amended return for
this extra income? Thanks!
