| The new hire reporting is separate from the quarterly wage and tax reporting. Your state should have forms available for new hire reporting. Check their website for downloadable forms. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

So what extra forms are they referring to as > "Quarterly Wage Reports," that also have to be filed? returns, you are probably also subject to state (and federal) unemployment taxes. These reports are where quarterly wages are reported. check with local unemployment people. | Somewhere I'm missing something. I don't see a place on the federal or state quarterly tax returns for the employer to list the employees names and SSN's. The forms just want the total withheld and due. I know the names/SSNs are supposed to be on some quarterly form (for only big employers?), because of what I've read about the New Hire database for child support enforcement. The FAQ addresses why employers need to seperately add them to the New Hire database, when the SAME information shows up in the "Quarterly Wage Reports" anyway. I looked at the Federal 941, and they just want the amounts. I looked at North Carolina's NC-5, and they just want the amount too. So what extra forms are they referring to as "Quarterly Wage Reports," that also have to be filed? Thanks << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
