Of the expenses you listed, everything should be deductible except the meals for games that do not involve an overnight stay -- the distance is not a factor. If your kids stay in your room, only your share would be deductible -- that is, the extra cost because you are in the room, not the other way around. Lanny K. | I coach youth ice hockey for a 501c3 organization and would like to deduct my expenses. I've read past threads on this and understand that mileage, tolls, and parking are deductible. What is not clear are other expenses such as: Hotel rooms for out of town games. Meals for above. Meals for games that are over 50, 100, 150 miles away (not sure if distance matters). Equipment and supplies that I buy and only use for coaching (I do not play in any men's leagues). And by the way, my kids do play on my team so if rooms and meals are deductible, would I only deduct my percentage for the use of the room? Donations made for team and club fundraising. Thanks in advance Dan << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
