By all means take at look at our national association's web> should I be looking for when selecting the person? > Education? > Certifications? > CPA? > Etc.? page: www.naea.org Your choice of either CPA, EA or chain store preparer will depend on the complexity of your return. Also of great value are friends' recommendations. If possible interview at least three, but don't expect to call them on the phone and get a response to "How much do you charge?" Yes. Some mix of all of the above. The more complex your> should I be looking for when selecting the person? > Education? > Certifications? > CPA? > Etc.? situation, the more education and experience you need them to have. You need someone who you feel comfortable with, someone who can communicate with you in language you understand, and someone who will be your advocate (within the law). It would be good to have somone who is located physically close to you so that you can have 'sit-downs' every now and then, but in today's world of e-mail and telephone access, it's not as crucial any more. -- Paul Thomas, CPA paulthomascpapc[at]bellsouth.net << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
