Actually, that doesn't work. CI's direct number is (800)
829-4933, but all one gets there is a voice menu where one
is directed to instructions on how to get a form 3949, where
to send it, and how to make a referral without the 3949 if
desired. I called the -1040 number to ask if there was
another way of contacting CI, and there is NOT, per that
source.

In the past year, I had to contact them regarding a
multi-state organized crime situation, and what I found
worked was to call the "CI media contact public information
officer" (numbers for them are listed in the IRS web site),
who then identified the special agent catching cases the
next day, whom I contacted and met with for an hour to
present the situation I encountered (about a week later - 10
calendar days from first contact to meeting). Roughly 25
suspects were included. At the IRS Tax Forum this year, I
plan on bitching to CI about this at their seminar.

Here is a link to a page at the Employment Development
Department's home page that gives instructions for reporting
payroll tax fraud:

Default Cases Tax Fraud in California

I didn't know where else to send this info. But, I am aware
of cases of tax fraud/evasion involving two businesses in
California.

The employees are payed under the table, some below minimum
wage, so both the owner and the employees, some of which are
poor and desparate, don't have to pay taxes.

Thanks.
