| When I worked for IRS, as an employee we have to have it right or suffer the consequences which can be rather harsh depending upon your position. I got a late 1099 from a bank and had already filed. I amended the return and paid the difference immediately, and it went through smoothly...I think amending it now is the best way to handle it. Thanks for any suggestions. that was on the e-filed return and wait about 6 weeks (especially after the check clears) and then amend the return and get a refund for the difference. That's exactly what you do.> client has a balance due which he plans to pay by April > 15th. I have since found an error on the return which will > reduce his tax liability and balance due. | I have a 2005 return efiled and accepted for a client. The client has a balance due which he plans to pay by April 15th. I have since found an error on the return which will reduce his tax liability and balance due. Can I prepare and have him file a 1040X by April 15th and pay the corrected balance due? Thanks for any suggestions. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
