Thanks. I'll file the 3800. I will have the 8830 filled out
and on file and if they want it, I'll mail it to them.

If this were your only Credit you would not have to file
form 3800, only 8830. Since the end result is the same let
TT file the 3800. Tedchnically you shoud file 8830 instead
of 3800, but it doen'st make any difference.

Default Enhanced Oil Recovery Credit - K-1 to Form 8830

As a limited partner of an oil pipe line company, I received
a K-1 with their instructions of where to report each line
from the K-1. On line 16 of the K-1 they show an amount that
is to be posted to Form 8830 line 3. After filling out the
remainder of 8830, it shows an amount on line 15 which
should be transfered to Form 1040, line 55.

The form also states that I must file a Form 3800 because
the amount in question is from "an enhanced oil recovery
credit from a passive activity."

My question is

Do I need to file both the Form 8830 and the Form 3800 or do
I only have to file the Form 3800?

The reason I ask is that neither Turbotax or Taxcut have
Form 8830 but they both have Form 3800. The correct amount
is carried from the K-1 to the Form 3800 and it is also
transfered to line 55 of 1040. If I just need to file Form
3800, then I can file electronically. Otherwise, I'll have
to print it out and mail it in.
