"home renovations" included alterations and improvements to
the real estate, structures only, and not to personal
property, which furniture is.

The only home items listed as allowable are home building
materials. Furniture doesn't count.

Default Schedule A deductions in TX

I plan on using the optional tax tables to figure my local
sales tax deduction. However i had some huge purchases last
year such as a new car and a lot of funiture for the home.
I know the car qualifies for a deduction in addition to the
optional tax tables but does the furniture qualify under
home renovations? thanks
