| I graduated from college in May 2005. I was a dependant while in school, but I am now filed as single. My university did not send me a 1098-T form for 2005 because they report amounts billed - and I was billed in Nov. 2004 for my 2004-2005 academic year. Even though my parents claimed the lifetime learning credit for 2004- does that mean I can claim it for 2005- for the tuition paid in 2005? Although I was billed in 2004, I didn't pay my spring tuition until 2005 spring. My parents only claimed the lifetime learning credit for the part of the tuition that was paid in 2004 in their 2004 returns And since I do not have a 1098-T form for 2005 from my university, how would I prove that I can claim this credit? Thank you for your help! << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
