NYS changed the rules on how employers report wages several> FL. I asked my employer to stop NY state tax on my paychecks > and that was done. Does anyone know > how to make my employer correct my W2 before April 15? years ago. They now require that the employer report NY wages to be identical to Federal wages. Your employer could very well be correct in the way the W2 is presented. On your NY part year resident return, you would allocate your wages properly. If that is true then just file with both states using the reported amounts. You will get a refund from one state and owe it to another. If you are still working for the same company then make sure that it is corrected before the end of this year and he has paid all the taxes. It is too late to correct last year since the money is already paid. -- Dennis Disclaimer: The above is my opinion. I do not guarantee it. In adition, it's possible that your wages are still subject to NY taxes, depending on the various facts and circumstances. NY was sucessful in taxing a Tennessee telecommuter who "worked" on the NY based computers. You may fall into a similar situation. -- Paul A. | I worked in NY from 1/1/05 to 8/27/05 and then I moved to FL. I asked my employer to stop NY state tax on my paychecks and that was done. However, on my 2005 W-2, my entire year's wage was on NY State. To make it correct, only 3/4 of my wage should be on NY State and 1/4 on FL. Does anyone know how to make my employer correct my W2 before April 15? Thanks. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
