Are you sure it's TaxAct that's spamming you, and not somebody
phishing using their name and a bogus website?

`The examples I see in news.admin.net-abuse.sightings look like the
latter.

Opting out only confirms that your e-mail address is good.
Other than that, it could be phishing spam mail wanting the
unexpecting to go to the website and enter confidential data.

If there is a rash of highly publicized identity theft losses
from web based tax prep sites, that may spell the end of that.

TaxAct has stooped repetitive spamming. That's correct -
repetitive spamming as in 10 per day - even after I opted
out a few days ago. (Of course I never opted in.)
