Not a Taxcut user. If your wife was a resident alien all year,
then you both use a 1040. If she was a dual status alien in 2005
(nonresident alien at the beginning of the year and a resident
alien at the end of the year) then you both need to make a
decision relating to the first year election.
See Pub 519 if the previous sentence is relevant.

The quoted phrase applies the rule to those who are neither US
citizens or resident aliens. Thus, if your wife has a green card,
this does not apply to her. As a green card holder, she is subject to
US taxes just as if she were a citizen, even if her income comes from
her native country.

Default 1040 or 1040NR

Hello, I'm in the process of using TaxCut's online software.
On one of the first pages, the app asks me whether several
conditions apply to either my spouse or me. One of them is
"non US citizen or resident alien". This pertains to my
wife who has her green card. I am a citizen. The following
page claims that TaxCut doesn't support 1040NR?!

Isn't 1040NR intended for non-resident aliens (those w/o
their green cards)?
