Is it true? Thanks. you if you itemize deductions and live in a low state income tax state. See the instructions for taxes on Schedule A. Hybrid cars also got a special adjustment to income in 2005. -- Don EA in Upstate NY << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |

The Toyota Camry is not a qualified hybrid or electric car> wondering whether we can save some on tax from that > purchase. We heard that only hybrid cars can be claimed for > tax deduction. Is it true? Thanks. and you are not eligible for any of those tax benefits. If your state charges you a personal property tax (a tax based on the value of the car and collected each year) and you itemize deductions on Schedule A, you can deduct the annual tax you pay. Some states collect the tax when you register the vehicle each year. In some states you get a bill from the local tax collector. Suffice to say, that each state is free to disguise the tax by calling it something else. In California they call it the Vehicle License Fee (VLF). In Arizona it's the VLT (Vehicle License Tax). etc. etc. << ================================================== ===== > << The foregoing is intended for educational purposes only > << and does NOT constitute legal OR professional advice. > << > << The Charter and the Guidelines for submitting > << messages to this newsgroup are at www.asktax.org. > << Copyright (2006) - All rights reserved. > << ================================================== ===== > |
