If you did not send in any money with your original return,
you put -0- on that line. If you itemized on the original
return, you should get a refund now with showing the added
interest paid. If you did not itemize, you may not get a
refund.

If you're using Turbo Tax, start by creating a 1040X without
the additional information. It should show no taxes owed,
and no new refund. Then put in the additional taxes and see
what changes.

Default 2004 amendment follow-up...

Doing turbo tax amendments, it asks for "Amount of tax paid
with original return plus additional tax paid after the
return was filed". In 2004 when I filed my return I was due
a refund so I didn't pay a tax "with" the return. I did
have taxes withheld greater than my tax liability, so do I
put down my tax liability as the amount of taxes paid. If I
do that I get an addiitional refund owing and if I don't I
am shown as owing money.

As stated in my previous post my only amendment is adding
$2501 of mortgage interest which I accidentally left off in
2004, so this should only lead to an additional refund (not
me owing money).

Please help.
