The analogy to a mortgage escrow fund suggests you should be
able to deduct taxes which are billed to you, but actually
paid by another entity. However, it would be nice if the
association provided you a Form 1098, clearly stating the
amount of real estate taxes which were paid.

Default Camp taxes

Own a summer camp. Actually an association owns the land
and we own 1/13th of the land and our building. The
association bills us for the property taxes and they submit
the payment to the town. Do we get to deduct the taxes we
paid even though we don't directly pay them ourselves?
