I wouldn't bother if the tax liability is unchanged. I
would, however, retain the documentation for that deduction.
If you're ever audited on that particular total, whip out
the extra receipt and say, "I'm glad you guys audited me. I
found a deduction I missed."

There is no need for an amended return in this case.

If you are sure it doesn't matter (like it's that small, or
it's a credit that phased out), then don't bother filing an
amended return.

Keep the info for your records though.

Default 1040 & TurboTax Question

I just e-filed my 1040 w/ TurboTax and it was accepted by the
IRS. I then found a deduction that I had missed and sent to
amend it. After I made the change I realized that it didn't
even matter as far as bottom line money coming or going.

Should I still send the 1040x with no changes or can I just
let it go? Is it a must that they now need a 1040x?
